하나의 컬렉션을 완성하기까지, 쿠에른은 1년이라는 시간을 연구와 제작에 온전히 쏟습니다. 여러 번의 피팅을 거쳐 개발한 라스트, 경험과 오감을 통해 선별한 가죽, 그리고 장인의 세심한 손길로 완성되는 핸드 소잉과 브러싱까지. 이러한 반복의 과정은 쿠에른 신발의 완성도를 만들어냅니다. 40여 년간 축적해온 슈메이킹 헤리티지를 바탕으로, 언제 신어도 내 발에 자연스럽게 맞는 편안함을 완성합니다.

발레 슈즈는 단순한 신발이 아닙니다. 우아함과 절제, 반복을 통해 완성되는 발레의 모든 과정을 담고 있죠. 시대에 따라 무용수들의 요구에 맞춰 끊임없이 변화해 온 만큼, 신는 사람의 발에 꼭 맞는 착화감을 고민한 흔적이 곳곳에 담겨 있습니다.
브랜드 초창기부터 지금까지 이어져 온 쿠에른의 시그니처 발레리나 슈즈 라인, 발렌시아 컬렉션 Valencia Collection 도 마찬가지입니다. 발레리나의 토슈즈에서 영감을 받아, 마치 발레 동작을 할 수 있을 만큼 가볍고 유연한 착화감을 구현한 것이 특징이에요.
우아한 발레코어부터 모던 캐주얼까지 다양한 스타일에 자연스럽게 어우러집니다. 3.5cm의 적당한 굽 높이와 쿠에른의 고유한 기술력인 인젝티드 아웃솔을 적용해 누구나 편안하게 신을 수 있어요.

발레에서 영감을 받은 디자인에만 그치지 않은 것 같아요.
맞아요. 발레리나의 움직임과 태도를 담아내는 협업을 실제로 이어왔어요. 지난해 7월에는 <국립발레단>과 공식 후원 협약을 체결했고요. 디자인을 넘어 실제 발레 현장과 연결되며, 브랜드 철학에 깊이를 더하고 싶었습니다.
국립발레단과의 협업은 어떻게 이어져 왔나요?
2018년부터 발레리나 컬렉션을 중심으로 화보 촬영을 진행해왔어요. 단원들에게 슈즈를 지원하며 협업을 이어왔고요. 무대 밖에서도 발의 편안함이 중요한 무용수들에게 도움이 되고 싶었죠. '쿠에른 삼청' 오프닝에서는 강수진 전 단장 겸 예술감독과 함께 프로젝트도 선보였어요.
발레와의 관계를 계속 이어가는 이유가 있나요?
발레가 가진 예술성과 장인정신이 쿠에른이 지향하는 방향과 맞닿아 있기 때문이에요. 끊임없는 훈련과 반복을 통해 완성도를 높여가는 과정은 쿠에른이 신발을 만드는 방식과도 닮아 있다고 생각해요.
